Who in here likes to fish?

I love it!! Picked it up just two years ago and I’m hooked. However, with kids sports now dominates our time, missing salmon season and my best friend/fishing buddy died this last year, I gave up on it for now. I’ll get another boat when kids are moved out and retire slaying fish!

Not pictured was our first ever Kokanee tournament that we took 3rd place in, fun times and miss you Rick, rip buddy.

Used to troll for stipers on Lake Castaic from time to time. Never caught one that size but they are good eating. There isn't a better way to spend a morning. These days for me it's mostly surf perch and trout from the sierras.

I surf perch fish up here in Oregon. Man they are fun to catch and make awesome fish tacos!!!!! We have red tails and silvers up here, about 2-3 pounds and fight like a 10 pound salmon.

I lived on a lake in Wisconsin when I was kid, so it was a given. Now, as an old fart, not so much. I hope to change that when I retire in 18 months.
But, in the summer of ‘16, we had our oldest granddaughter visiting from Maine. She asked if I would take her fishing because her Dad doesn’t fish.
Her first fish.

Co-incidentaly in 2016 I was 62 and caught my first (and only) sea fish, makes some of the others pictured on this post look a bit small

I like to fish, usually rivers and streams for small trout. I quit for like 20 years but I’ve been getting back into it with my son since he has an interest in it. I realize I really miss it.

So much good fishing up near you!

Two weeks after I retired, my wife and I loaded up our horses and Headed to the Marbel Mountain Wilderness area in Northern California. Growing up in Northern California I always fished small creeks. As I got older, I also really liked fishing high mountain lakes. So we headed out with our 3 horses and rode 7 hours into the wilderness and set up camp at a high mountain lake and fished and camped for 5 days. We had the whole place to ourselves. We had one pack horse to take in everything we would need.

Awesome, I do similar trips multiple times each summer but I don’t have horses lol. That’s probably a real game changer! I Love high mountain lakes and streams. The trout might be small but they sure are pretty.
