Yep, app says 96% humidity right now and clear skies, makes for a hot summer.

The upper east coat like Vermont for instance seems to be tons of forests, no?

Yes but more moisture than what we have. It's also why the have ORV parks back east and don't have public lands like we have out here. Look at the population density compared to out west.

From what I experienced when I was stationed in MD it's a totally different thing than out west.

I haven’t spent much time out East at all, so I’ll have to take your word for it. I have definitely noticed we have way more wheeling and public lands out here though.

Why is there so much federal land out west? Surely there’s a reason, I’m just not sure what it is.
Because of Teddy Roosevelt. The East Coast up to the Mississippi was all forest but got cut down; private land; cotton farms; Teddy Roosevelt started the National Parks first with Yellowstone Park then more and more as territories turned into states. Saved the Redwoods and Yosemity but environmentalists stopped logging and stoped any fires asap. Lots of dry 40 years worth of dead wood on the floor

Exactly. I call them tinder boxes. Damn environmentalists. They try to save the environment and end up being it’s worst enemy. Idiots.

Because the east has been settled for many years before the west was even populated so it was bought and sold way before they started claiming land.

Most of the wheelin I did back east was in ORV parks or in a farmers property that was tilled under for the winter.
I'm no expert at all so don't take all I say as gospel but as that map shows the west is more federal land. Which is also why Pres Trump had the office of the BLM moved out to Colorado instead of being in D.C. which is a smart move IMHO.

Trump has made a lot of smart moves, but I don’t want to break forum policy and get political. He has though.

EDIT: Oh, this is in the Off-Topic forum, so I can get as political as I want. Go Trump!

Yes I wasn't trying to make this political but some of this for a simple guy like me just seems COMMON SENSE.

I’m very sophisticated Intellectually, and I agree that it just seems like COMMON SENSE. YOu are probably much more sophisticated than you think

Damn I'm just an old Army grunt. Yes I'm a step above a Marine (can write with a pen not crayons) but I sure ain't a sophisticated intellect by a long shot.

Why is everyone hating on environmentalist? Forest management has be disregarded for years and that is why we have so many forest fires. When the US started logging they wiped out forests and caused everything to be the same growth with no variation in native species and also allowed invasive species to take their places. Instead of making a plan, they just decided to let the forest go crazy. Now we are slowly trying to properly manage lands but gov. Officials (like Trump) do not have the comprehension power to understand climate change or how to manage any environmental problems, which make it so difficult to move forward. Also side note moving the BLM out west was a horrible idea because all policies go through DC making it more difficult for BLM officials to attend meetings and be there in person.

Federal government isn’t SUPPOSED to own ANY land.
Saved the redwoods. Yellowstone. Yosemity. It just swong to far left. Like Republicans are shooting signs, leaving trash, not packing it out. Yet the left try’s to virtue signal

I agree with a lot of what you said till Trump. He has been in office for 3 going on 4 years. Our National Forest have been fucked for at least 50 years

Spent a lot of summers in Vermont and traveled throughout New England and they just get regular rain all spring summer and fall. Upstate NY is very rural and can be quite wet during summers. NJ gets fires in the PIne Barrens all the time but none of the east coast has the incredible terrain and limited access like the West
