Compare the shape, they don’t look to be higher to me with a straight line vs curved.
The very bottom looks like it sits higher but I’m seeing there may actually be more exposed vulnerable surface area than the genrights

I'm wondering if you couldn't cut the bottoms off about half way? I guess if it was that much of a concern. I'm honestly not that worried about hitting the raised mounts.

My stock ones looked like JMT's before I cut them off.

I don’t know a good way to measure these, so this is frame rail to the weld bead (which I know isn’t great)

It’s not as bad as it looks. It’s really just cutting and flipping the crossmember’s end pieces side for side (and flipped). Then get the skid into position and weld tabs to the frame that line up with the newly flipped ends. I’ll eventually redo mine because I think it’s worth gusseting them too.

This might be easier than getting the damn outer C’s around the frame, If only I could weld.

I think you have enough friends that can ;). If we can find a high voltage outlet in Moab I’ll bring my gear to get it done there as another option. 110 won’t be quite enough for the frame and mount thickness.

He does but I'm 3 hours away and my garage is sort of full right now. I'm trying to pencil him in for spring next year.

I’m watching some welding videos. Trying to warm up to the idea. I bet my neighbor would let me borrow one of his machines for a few hours to practice. Maybe start getting some PPE.

I am not sure what you are looking for. Didn't read the whole thread. I do have a big enough welder in Moab if you need to borrow one.
Also if you need something welded and I am not there I could recommend someone to do it for you.
Just let me know

Little frame work today in preparation for winter. They do use some chemical on the road which is very annoying, so I have to stay on top of it.

Cleaned, scuffed, sanded sections that had surface rust, cleaned some more, masked everything off, painted with Krylon Semi-Flat. It’s still wet in the photos, so it looks glossier than it will when dry.

I was just looking as some damage I have on my sliders yesterday...You and @Irun were in my head..."sand that down and paint it" Instead I went inside and had a beer! I need to drink to quiet those voices in my head!
My answer is to drink a beer 🍺 while sanding and painting. 🍻 🤣

The irony today was that after all that I forgot to touch up the last spot on my slider! 🙄

Another thing I forgot. I already put the Currie Steering to use on the rocks. Scraped up real bad where the drag link goes into the tie rod. Didn’t touch that up either, so more work to do in addition to the whole driver’s side.
