So, perhaps help me understand the failure mode of these diffs and axles. what is the culprit that causes their failure prematurely when you go up in size? my on and off road applications are very specific so it would help determine if I will be closer to needing replacement or more on the safe side when i jump into my 33sAbsolutely. Dana 30 stock is good up to 33’s. If you add chromoly axles it is good up to 35’s.
Rolling mass causing undue stress on the axles. Other stuff can break too. You can always play with it until you break it, then upgrade.what is the culprit that causes their failure prematurely when you go up in size?
I just verified it works, if you see "VIN not provided"Link does not work. The jeepsie link does work...

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I need help and I'm knew to the forum. I've had a dana 35 in my jeep since I got it 12 years ago when I was 15. I'm fiscally in the ball Park for a Dana 44! Woot! A guy is selling one about an hour away that he says came from a 99 wrangler. But it has a rubber plug and this weird thing that looks like it bolts onto the to of the housing. What is it?! Btw, he wants $325. It also has a limited slip in it.
P.S. is this where I should post this?

Thank you! I was so confused! Will it still work in my tj? Probably not without a lot of work right?Jeep Liberty? Definitely not from a TJ. None of the brackets are correct.

cover doesn't look quite right to me. and rear disks makes it newer, looks more like it's an aluminum center from a newer JGC. but they didn't have that gizmo up top.
i could be wrong
