Basket's Build

Looks like I got the wrong part in the right box, DS1312 tie rod end box for the ZJ upgrade but this isn't right.. bummerView attachment 314164
On the bright side I have the rear end set and centered and pinion angle set. Looks like I'm gonna be driving the gas tank down while I wait for the new tie rod end
Do you want a currie TR and TREs? I'm getting my BMB installed with new TREs and am happy to pass the take offs along.

Sure yeah I think I'd be down, how do they compare to the ZJ tie rod are they similar? Thank you!

The TREs should be the same I think ( at least the studs). The bar is 1/4" bigger in diameter. If you want to tie rod flip my old knuckles might still be in the BFH Garage

Okay yeah thank you that would be awesome! I'm not very familiar with the tie rod flip yet, checking out the howto/BFH video now

Okay yeah that is cool, I really need to learn how to weld and buy a welder so I can do things like that

Anyone know if the Savvy GTS can use the same hardware as the stock tank/skid?

The only thing that I reused were the carriage bolts that are in the frame. Are you missing some of the hardware with your new one?
Yeah the guy didn't give me any of the hardware. I did see the needed bolts are listed in the how-to post but was wondering if I could get away with reusing

They are mostly all 5/16”-18 fasteners. Get a box of 5/16"-18 x3/4" carriage bolts and a box of 5/16"-18 flange nuts w/ serrations from McMaster or Fastenal or something
Sweet thank you for the sizes! Hoping to work on it this weekend

Anyone know what grade/type of hardware comes with the Savvy GTS? All I could find was zinc at the hardware stores and didn't really think that was going to cut it for a skid

I am getting them in grade 5

One of the ends was kinda siezed in the rod but luckily I was able to get the right length just by adjusting one of them. Gonna be fun when I need to replace the ends

Sorry! I did have to use a vice grip last time I did an alignment so they should move with some work. Glad to see it get to work vs the wimpy OEM one!

Yeah I will probably fight with it in a vise next time to get the end out when I need to but for now it works so it'll be a headache for another day lol. The one that was stuck looks like it took a hit to a rock at some point, the collar's bolt was a little smashed too so maybe that's why it's stuck. I did antisieze the one I could get out.
