In the link you provided to Ricky's site in post #2 above, TRE has the 6,000lb rating tied to the weight of the vehicle, and the description confirms that it has 18,000lb breaking strength, so I think @B1Toad is correct in the rope he is planning to buy. From Ricky's site:

Yes, that's the one, sorry for the confusion. I'm still trying to find out if the soft shackles should be rated higher or lower than the rope though, and if I have room and need for the 30 footer. My use will be strictly beach and dunes.

Hopefully but I wasn't taking a chance above when I said a 6,000 lb. rope wouldn't be enough since I have seen smaller diameter snatch ropes with that kind of capacity that wouldn't be strong enough.

Soft shackles are typically significantly stronger than the winch rope and most snatch straps.

Here you go, they are trying to predict a break so they can rig some device to stop the recoil.

Holy man…anyone curious about the forces involved there should get a 5# bag of sand and try to throw it. Compare that to how fast and far the sand bags are going in the videos. Serious kinetic energy there.

I was one of the guys who thought bigger was better in this case. Wish I would have gone with the smaller rope.
