I’ll get those measurements for you tomorrow, We measured the before at least.
Putting brakes on, found my drivers side lower ball joint was shot, which I’m looking at as a good thing, I’ve been having a pulling to the left which has been driving me crazy, and I bet this is the cause.
Working on putting passenger side back together
Yeah going to just do the drivers due to wanting to get it back together for the weekend but it’ll be good to get the one side done, and hoping that and the ATs with load C will help the ride a lot.
The driver's side must get more abuse cause my driver side upper and lower ball joints were far worse than the passenger side. Weird.
A small breeze could make the lower left side ball joint move. I was shocked since the jeep only has about 30 something thousand miles on it. I think Tom's jeep just knows that I strongly dislike changing ball joints.
On a positive note hopefully it fixes the pull left. Oh Jim. No more grinding required on the ujoint for the bbk.
Side note. It's getting harder and harder to support local businesses. The local tire shop down the street from me quoted $5 more then pepboys for mounting and balancing which was great due to the ease of location and the fact that its not my money
, but when I arrived they said it was going to be $300 to do 4 tires ($75 each) quote was $40. After talking with them a bit they went down to $200. Still $50 a tire. My money or not I couldn't justify a $15 per tire increase over the competition. It's really a shame because they are really nice people and the customer service is far and beyond your typical big box store. Once you factor in the MIA 5th tire though your looking at a difference of $70.

Do they use a different rotor now with a bigger hat size to fit a stock unit bearing circumference?
I would assume so. I'm not sure if this is the case for yours but it came with a ring that goes around the hub prior to installing the rotor. If you zoom up really close you can make it out in the photo sandwiched in between the hub and rotor.
I think it’s because mine is the super 16, I believe 15 BBK and 16 BBK still requires grinding
It might also be the difference between the 15" kit and the 16" kit. I went with the 15" cause I'm on 15" wheels.
Perhaps. The instructions shipped had a special addendum page that isn't shown on the online version. I'll take a photo of it tonight and post it up.
Ok back to my supporting small businesses comment. Pepboys quoted 35 per tire and just called to confirm its done. Out the door for the 4 I dropped off its $78 TOTAL. Don't worry Tom I won't ask any questions.
You are correct. Same goes for the 17" kit, no grinding and with both it and the Super 16, you need the later unitbearings so the centering ring registers correctly.
Mount and balance 5 here is 175 at Just Tires, about the same at the rest of the franchise stores.
Easy movement of the lower pin is not an indicator for replacement.
