I replaced mine. It’s not fun work but it isn’t all that difficult either.

As for the MML you’re going to want one with the tuck or the fan will be hitting the bottom of the shroud. You can drop the shroud some but probably not enough for the ultra high skid. I still had to drop my shroud and I have a MML

Yeah honestly it kinda seems like I need it already with the BL - I didn't try too hard before moving on to something else but it seems like the shroud won't go far enough down already, seems like the lower rad hose is in the way. I just went ahead and ordered the savvy MML so I don't have to worry about it

I bought my toruqe box sections on ebay from poconometalcraft, who make the replacement frame sections for the TJ. I can't remember what I paid but I remember it being pretty reasonable.

Yeah looked like there was a pair for 100$something. The hard part for me is the welding. I'm still debating whether I should learn in my little 1car garage or if I should wait til I have more space

Okay cool, maybe I'll look into it. Seems like the HF ones are just going to end up leaving me wanting for more. Not quite high enough in my priorities atm to spend $2k+ for like a millermatic
Does it run on 220v? Last time I did research it seemed like getting one with 110 wouldn't really be worth the money. I could probably have 220 moved into my garage (or an extension cord lol?), the dryer hookup is close by on the other side of one of the walls

A former jeeper got a YesWelder and has spoken pretty highly of it - they do a lot of sales and IIRC his was <$500. Of course, you'll need to add in a regulator, gas, and hood probably.

The metal for the torque box isnt very thick, I think a 20 amp would handle it with ease.

I believe they're manufactured out of China, but I've heard good reviews. There is also a handful of used welders on Craigslist that could be an option.
I just picked up a used welder not too long ago, havent had a chance to use it yet and its been probably 20 years since I last ran a bead but it would be a valuable skill to have. Then you dont have to worry about @rasband 's welds failing
@JMT just bought that welder and has been playing with it. I bought the next step up from that when my Lincoln broke because they'd told me it was going to 2-3 months for repairs. I don't have anything bad to say about the 250A and am going to try out the aluminum option soon too.
Can't wait to worry about my own booger welds to fail instead! Yeah it seems like I am getting closer and closer to needing to know how to weld to keep progressing on the build. It would be cool to be able to customize things myself
Cool that is good! Looks like a decent priced option then I'll have to look further when I am ready to spend but a good option at least. Is 50amps enough to do most anything on a jeep? Like theoretically if I wanted to outboard is that enough welder?
I don't have experience welding with other welders, but I bought this Yes Welder back at Thanksgiving. There is a lot of technical support and videos showing you how to set everything up. There are also charts readily available for setting amperage and voltage with various wire sizes so you can set it up easily and start practicing welds. I don't have a lot of time to practice, but I have confidence I can do projects on the Jeep. Don't forget all the other things you will need in addition to the welder. It all adds up! Cylinder with Argon/CO2 ($250; fill-ups are much cheaper after, this is an initial cost only), gloves, eye protection, helmet, a few small tools, somewhere to weld (concrete will work, but piece of metal sheet on bench more ideal and cheap, et. al.)
