Hey everyone!

Which kinetic rope are you using? Recommend me some!

I only have heard about Yankum ropes and bubba rope.

Thanks for the answer Jerry!

Should I look for the 3/4" Kinetic Recovery Rope for vehicles up to 6,000 lbs for my TJ? or the 1" rope for up to 10,000 lbs?

Also, do you prefer a kinetic rope or a snatch strap?
Get the smaller one. Yeah, I know, we all think bigger is better but the larger ones really need to be used for larger rigs. I'll use either rope or strap. I seem to favor the rope although I've used both with similar results. It may have something to do with only having a couple of straps and several ropes though.

Perfect! Thanks for the detailed answer ! :)

What about the recovery dampers? Should they be used only for winching? or for snatching as well? (should they be used with kinetic ropes too, or only with snatch straps?

sorry for the noob questions

I don't know what you are calling a recovery damper but if that is some sort of weighted bag or contraption you toss over the winch line, they are pretty stupid. They give you a false sense of security and will not protect you from anything except excess funds if you buy one.

This thing!

I got a 3/4"×30' made custom by @Mud dauber. And also two soft shackles. Put to good use last night for the first time pulling a Hummer off the crest of a sand dune!

haha, Ok, I understand!

So for a safe recovery, I just need a kinetic rope connected to my tow hook(s), connected to the recovery point of the second vehicle and I'm good to go. right? So, all I need are recovery points, and a snatch strap/kinetic rope?

No such thing as a safe recovery. You can make them safer, you'll never make them safe. Get someone knowledgeable to help you with the basics.

Bringing this old thread back with a couple of questions. Planning to order the standard 6,000 lb kinetic rope from Tre. Can't decide between the 20 ft or 30 ft. Can anyone tell me how much room the 30 ft takes when packed? Second question is soft shackles, what size? Should the shackles be rated higher yield or lower yield to the rope?

A 6,000 lb. kinetic/snatch strap or rope might be enough for an ATV but it's not even close to being strong enough for a Wrangler. It should be at least 3X the weight of the Wrangler, 18,000 lbs. at a minimum and personally I'd go for a 20,000 lb. snatch strap or snatch rope. Snatch straps/snatch ropes have to absorb shock in addition to just the weight, they're often used with a running start on some recoveries.

In the link you provided to Ricky's site in post #2 above, TRE has the 6,000lb rating tied to the weight of the vehicle, and the description confirms that it has 18,000lb breaking strength, so I think @B1Toad is correct in the rope he is planning to buy. From Ricky's site:
